Ed Nix - Chair, Southeast Nebraska
Ed grew up in Chicago in a Christian home and began his entrepreneurial endeavors as a small boy shining shoes in bars and barber shops on the south side. Since then he has worked in many business environments. As a corporate member of ServiceMaster he became the Senior Operations Manager for healthcare management services in London, England. Ed went on to build a multi-million dollar ServiceMaster franchise in Lincoln, Nebraska which he owned for almost 20 years and sold in 2009. While still the owner of his franchise, Ed was selected to accept the position of President of ServiceMaster Clean- India Ltd. As a resident consultant in Bangalore, Ed led the development of ServiceMaster commercial cleaning services throughout India.
Since 2009 Ed has been involved in business coaching and consulting through Nix & Co. Inc. He is a John Maxwell Team, certified coach, teacher, and speaker. He has attended numerous training and development programs for leadership and business development. Ed graduated from Illinois State University in 1977 with honors and a B.S. degree.
In 2006 Ed recommitted his life to Christ and was baptized. He has been involved with a peer advisory group since that time. In 2013 he became the Forum Area Director Southeast Nebraska for CBMC and became a Chair of the CBMC Leadership Institute in 2014. Ed is dedicated to helping business leaders and owners glorify God in the marketplace by helping them become effective Ambassadors for Christ while building excellence into their business. Ed is married to Nickie and has two grown children, Kimberly & Joshua, and one grandchild, Summer Starr.
Gary Tenpenny - Chair, Topeka/Kansas City
Gary’s passion is to see senior business leaders become the leader God has designed them to become, while building a business of excellence that glorifies God. Gary grew up in Topeka, Kansas and graduated from Emporia State University School of Business with a B. S. in Business Administration. He also received his Master of Science in Financial Services from The American College. He has nearly 40 years in the financial services industry as a representative, managing partner, and senior financial planner for two major financial service companies—New England Financial and MetLife.
Since 2001, Gary has integrated his work and faith through his involvement with the National Christian Foundation Heartland, Kingdom Advisors and the HalfTime organization as a coach. He volunteers at Emporia State University on both the Foundation Board of Trustees and the School of Business Advisory Board, as well as, mentoring business students.
Gary has been active in his local church since 1987, serving the body in the stewardship areas, discipling and mentoring men, and helping lead a Family Matters Sunday school small group. He helps serve at the local rescue mission serving meals and regularly supports his local church, community and various other ministries.
Gary has been married to his bride, Trudy for nearly 36 years and they have three adult daughters, Christa, Amy, and Kara.
At this stage of my life, I feel blessed to have the opportunity to come alongside senior business leaders and grow together as God designed us to, while becoming men of spiritual maturity as we impact others for Christ in the marketplace.
Don Hoffert - Leadership Institute Area Director, Northlands
Don Hoffert is the CBMC Northland Area Leadership Institute Director where he has been shepherding a movement of 28 moderators and 350 peer advisory business leaders since 2008. Don retired from a 30 year corporate career in 2007, last as VP of Business Excellence for Storaenso Paper, a fortune 50 company winning a number of national and state performance excellence awards. He was introduced to CBMC while on international assignment in Helsinki Finland.
He is passionate about nurturing an integrated business and spiritual excellence approach for the glory of God and for leaders joy as they steward their businesses. Don and his wife Cynthia live in Plymouth, MN and enjoy spending time with their 2 adult children and 5 grandchildren. Don also invests time ministering as an elder at Bethlehem Baptist Church where he leads “business as mission”. He has a BS in engineering.
